Robin Eyre

Robin Eyre is an international business development specialist with over 10 years experience of working in advisory and senior management roles across a variety of sectors in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Equipped with a degree in Southeast Asian Studies and Language, as well as an MBA in Business Strategy, he is an advanced speaker of bahasa Indonesia and Malay, Thai, Lao and French with an in-depth understanding of business, politics, the economy and culture in the region.

He obtained his first work experience conducting market research for Glaxo Smith Kline whilst studying at Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur from 1994-5, and later secured his first full-time position as a financial journalist for Business Day newspaper in Bangkok, Thailand.

From 1997 to 2000, he was Head of the British Trade Office, Vientiane, Lao PDR, where he provided market entry advice and business development support for local UK businesses and UK-based businesses seeking in-market assistance, as well as conducting industry, political and economic research for corporate clients, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development.

Since the completion of his MBA in 2001 he has worked in both the Middle East and back in Southeast Asia across a variety of industries including manufacturing and construction materials, alternative energy, printing and investment promotion. Initially focussing on business development and marketing consulting, he has also developed significant experience in operations management and business process optimisation as General Manager of two companies in Thailand and Laos.

Following his return to the UK, Mr Eyre joined Go East Consulting in February 2011, and is currently available for advisory and project work in the UK as well as interim management assignments in Southeast Asia.
